Where it all began, apart from growing up with animals at home, Becky rescued Ralphie her very first dog in 2015 as a failed racing whippet from Doncaster, with not the most loving or best start in life. The 12 hour round trip was the start of Becky’s journey as a dog owner, and from that day on she has never looked back. Ralphie is 10 years old and has been Becky’s shadow from day 1. He has huge character, with not much talent elsewhere (but we don’t mind), he is pack leader to the other 4 dogs. He has taught her, patience with anxiety in dogs, overcoming obstacles such as fear of men and plastic bags (still not completely cracked the last one,) as well as separation anxiety. He is an older lad now, and Becky feels honoured to take care of Ralphie as he enters old age, and the challenges that can also bring.
Becky and partner Guy purchased Bracken in 2017, driving to Carmarthen in Wales on a rainy day to pick up their first KC registered Black Labrador puppy. Bracken has been the perfect introduction to owning and living alongside a gundog, being part of a picking up team on the shoot field, as well as being a well-behaved office dog. Bracken

Bracken has been the perfect introduction to owning and living alongside a gundog, being part of a picking up team on the shoot field, as well as being a well-behaved office dog. Bracken has proven that you can have a fierce working gundog who absolutely thrives on the field, to coming home drying off and laying in front of the fire for a peaceful evening, she is the epitome of man’s best friend, and work partner. She had her first litter in 2019 which they kept Oakley and Fern.

Becky’s pride and joy (but don’t tell the others!) Oakley was one of the those decisions in life, that sometimes you just need take the plunge and make. When deciding on choosing a puppy out of Brackens litter it was always supposed to be a black bitch (Fern) but little Oakley followed Becky around and stuck to her like a shadow. At the time of viewings and selling the pups, it became very apparent that he wasn’t going anywhere, and a promise was made that she would learn everything she could about Gundogs and together her and Oakley would start a journey together, which has taken Becky all the way to where she is today. We wouldn’t ever recommend keeping littermates, a lot of time, and separate training this one has been a success story.
Fern is one of those dogs that is exactly what you expect a black labrador to be, kind and gentle, with a huge willing to please. A dynamite on the shooting field, has taken to the Pet Gundog training like a duck to water. She is a very independent dog and has always had a sensible head on her shoulders. She had a litter of 8 puppies in 2
Fern is one of those dogs that is exactly what you expect a black labrador to be, kind and gentle, with a huge willing to please. A dynamite on the shooting field, has taken to the Pet Gundog training like a duck to water. She is a very independent dog and has always had a sensible head on her shoulders. She had a litter of 8 puppies in 2023 where she was the most loving incredible mother but will be ready to get back to training and getting fit for the shoot season.
Patterdale terrier and the household mascot, Bella isn’t for the faint hearted she is 120% terrier with everything that comes with the breed. A kind and loving dog to her family but means business when she needs to. Bella joins the pack on every walk and supervises the training. She will never be a Gundog, but she will always be a big part of the Oakwood family.
